Digital Certificate
A digital certificate tells you that the site you are visiting is genuine. MCB uses the highest level Extended Validation (EV) Certificate available on the Market to make it easier for you to protect yourself online. When a site like MCB 's uses EV certificates, you'll know it is authentic when the address bar turns green, displaying the name of the Institution as well as the Issuer’s name. This happens though provided you use browsers that support EV certificates - listed in the section 'Simple Precautions' under 'Look for Security Indications'.
Encryption
Encryption is a security feature that prevents fraudulent users to read or amend your private data transmitted via a secured channel between your browser and the bank's server. MCB uses latest cryptographic standards such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) with 128-bit encryption, to protect abusive data transfer. Be always aware of:
- "https": the 's' stands for secure
- a closed padlock
